A Message from Our Founder

Eugene Twizerimana

Eugene Twizerimana

Founder, PDD Rwanda

Welcome to our shared space for hope and action. I want to convey a fundamental truth: the work of peacebuilding and durable development does not belong exclusively to administrators, spiritual leaders, or law enforcement. It is, profoundly, the work of everyone. Regardless of age, gender, nationality, or occupation, each of us has a vital role to play in cultivating peace and ensuring food security—and this journey begins at home.

I believe with all my heart that no effort is too small and no strength should ever be wasted. It is never too late to start this crucial work. If we fail to use the resources and energy we possess today, we may find ourselves depending on others merely to survive tomorrow. This deep conviction is what inspired us to give everything we have to build peace and promote sustainable development within our communities, preventing the devastating consequences that conflict brings.

We recognize that meaningful change requires rigorous research and thoughtful analysis to address real problems with accurate understanding. And while we cannot change the tragedies of the past three decades, we can open our hearts and minds today, moving forward with renewed awareness and purpose.

This journey has not been walked alone. I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, and the devoted partners who have stood with PDD in our peace interventions.

My profound thanks go to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) and Change Agents Peace International (CAPI) for their invaluable contributions since our very beginning. I am also deeply grateful to Josh Bazuin, the family of Krystan and Ruth, our dedicated staff members, as well as Bridget Butt, Zachée, Douglass and his wife, Felix, Rebecca, and Paul (MCC consultants since 2001) for their vital and constructive feedback.

Finally, to all the unnamed heroes working tirelessly in this field to improve our methodologies and resolve the challenges hindering peace and development—thank you.

It is my sincere hope that this platform will empower our partners and friends to continue guiding us with their wisdom, helping us remain steadfast in our vision for a peaceful and thriving Rwanda.

With gratitude and hope,

Eugene Twizerimana
