About Us

Our Story

True, lasting peace must begin at the family level.

Peace and Durable Development (PDD) was founded on April 3, 2001, in the Burera District of Rwanda's Northern Province. Established in the aftermath of the severe conflicts that shook Rwanda and the wider African Great Lakes region in the 1990s, the organization was born out of an urgent need for community-led healing, reconciliation, and sustainable growth.

Our conviction

The foundational conviction of PDD is simple yet profound: true, lasting peace must begin at the family level.
